None of you are really fooled by this "Right to carry" BS, are you?
Being that this "right" just passed in Illinois should not be viewed as a victory in any way, just like the "right" to carry a concealed pistol in New Jersey is laughable. Don't believe me? Have you tried to get a carry permit in New Jersey? I have. Here's what happened...
- First, I received a blank stare through the records window at the local police station when I requested the concealed carry paperwork.
- Second, I was told that I was welcome to fill out the paperwork and submit the application with the non-refundable fee.
- Third, I was told not to hold my breath in waiting for an answer, and that chances are the answer would be "No".
When I inquired as to why the answer would be "no" and that I was under the impression that my "right" to carry was not subject to interpretation, I received a smile and giggle from through the window and was informed that, "The judge who makes final approval on these is anti-gun. You'd have to have a really good reason to want to carry, and even then, there's a good chance you would be denied."
So yeah, we have a "right" to carry here in New Jersey, just like you poor saps in illinois have now. But good luck in actually getting that permit if they have the fine print working on their side that mumbles in the background "justifiable need".
